5 Reasons NOT to Use an Animated Video to Promote Your Product

There is a new fad going around that has clearly been developed by Disney fans. Not to put Disney down, they’re geniuses, but who really wants to watch an animated short promoting a product? You would have more luck selling a cartoon mouse as a profitable motion picture. After reviewing the blogosphere about how great this new concept is, we have come up with five reasons why you do NOT want to use animated videos for your marketing ventures.

1.       Animated Videos Are Cost Effective

Let’s be serious. We all know that any product worth selling has a lot of money invested into it. So why would you want cheap marketing? Even if it’s of high quality and entertainment, it’s inexpensive. And if you’re saving money, you can’t brag about the money you’ve already invested in other opportunities.

2.      Animated Marketing Saves Time

Who wants to sit and watch a 50 second clip about how great something is? I don’t know about you, but I just love listening to a long lecture. Give me the details! A short clip just gives the customer an idea of what the product is about. Makes them want to check it out further and gets them interested in your company. Who wants that?

3.       Connect Faster to Clients Through Internet Distribution

Everything is at your fingertips. Where’s the fun in that? Animated videos can be made in no time and sent out for current and potential clients to see. And everything is online nowadays. People can get it on their phones, tablets, computers, iDogs… you name it! Why would you want to go through the hassle of technology when good old in person pitches can work?

4.       Other Companies are Already Using Animated Video

You don’t want to be like everyone else. It’s important to be original. Take a stand! Just because this is a new way of thinking and reaching customers, that doesn’t mean it’s any good. Even if other companies are expanding their business three times faster, why fix what isn’t broken? C’mon now. If someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you?

5.       Animated Marketing is Simple and Efficient Overall

Again, where are the bragging rights? I wouldn’t go so far as saying a caveman could do it, but seriously. Who wants to have something put together ready to send out in a matter of a few hours (if it even takes that long?!) No. We want to know that people have slaved away and done re-write after re-write. While other animated marketing is out there, promoting other businesses, we want to do it how it’s always been done. Tried and true is what to stick to.

So, let’s be real. There really is no upside to animated marketing. And, c’mon… who really wants to watch an animated video anyway?
